ABA Therapy for Children with Autism
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and changing behaviour. It involves systematically applying evidence-based, compassionate interventions that are directly derived from the science of learning and human behaviour.
InspireKids offers individualized ABA therapy programs designed to support children with autism in developing communication, self-regulation, and daily living skills. Programs are individualized to each child’s needs and are designed to support success in the home, school, and community environments.
ABA therapy also addresses behaviours that may interfere with learning or participation in everyday activities. Through structured teaching and supportive strategies, ABA can help reduce challenging behaviours that may affect a child’s safety, independence, or ability to access meaningful experiences.
ABA is one of the most well-researched and widely recognized evidence-based interventions for individuals with autism. Decades of research demonstrate that ABA therapy can help children with autism build skills, increase independence, and improve quality of life in measurable and meaningful ways.
At InspireKids Centre for Child Development, we deliver therapy through a trauma-assumed lens. This means we recognize that every child brings a unique history of experiences that shape how they learn, communicate, and engage with the world. Rather than asking “What is wrong?” we ask “What has this child experienced, and how can we create safety, trust, and predictability?”
Our approach prioritizes compassion, consent, and natural interactions. Therapy is centred around meaningful activities, preferred items, and experiences that bring joy to our clients and their families. We intentionally create therapeutic environments that feel safe, regulated, and respectful — because children learn best when they feel secure.
We actively listen to our clients and caregivers, ensuring that treatment plans are collaborative and responsive. We value building trusting relationships and maintaining clear communication so that therapy promotes learning, emotional regulation, cooperation, and resilience — without compromising dignity.
Each treatment plan is individualized to support meaningful, sustainable progress tailored to the unique needs of the child and family. We believe empowerment and skill development go hand in hand, and we walk alongside families every step of the way.
We prioritize establishing a therapeutic alliance between families, their child and the therapy team. The therapeutic alliance refers to the collaborative and trusting relationship between the therapy provider, the family and the child. This treatment approach has been empirically proven to enhance treatment success. At the heart of our process is an initial intake assessment and interview with primary caregivers. We collaborate closely to understand your family's current needs, challenges, and aspirations. Our next step involves conducting a thorough functional behaviour assessment or analysis to uncover the root causes behind any barriers your child may be encountering or the causes for challenging behaviour. We believe parents know their children best and we value the role of parents by emphasizing informed consent, understanding and empathy. Throughout your child's ABA therapy sessions, our focus remains on ensuring that the skills taught are effectively generalized and maintained across various settings and situations important to your child and family.
